Meraki Candles Haul: Part 2

I had to do another order when Meraki Candles put up a buy one get one half price offer and it  included a candle I really wanted that had sold out, Draco (Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter who also happens to be one of my favourite characters!). I also picked up Reading by the Fireside which I’m really looking forward to lighting during Christmas.

Draco is described as smelling of chocolate and peppermint while Reading by the fire is described as smelling of white chocolate cookies.

I was really excited to try the Draco candle and I’m so happy with how it smells in real life. I’m a huge fan of mint chocolate and this smells heavenly! Reading by the fire is one I am looking forward to burning while literally reading by the fire. It smells sweet and reminds me of when I bake cookies. I’m very happy with both of these!

I will be burning these over the holidays so keep an eye out on my instagram for posts about how well they burn. I’m really excited!

I’m pretty obsessed with bookish merchandise in case you couldn’t tell! What are some of your favourite types of bookish merch that you’ve bought or even have in your wishlist?

I also love mugs, bookmarks and Funko Pops!

eBay haul: TonyMoly Pokemon, Etude House and more!

I love Asian skincare and beauty, and also been in love with the collaboration between TonyMoly and Pokemon. It’s so cute! So I got a couple of things from that line!

I first got some of the hand cream from the line. One of them was Jigglypuff (they have the Japanese names of them on the packaging!) and it’s a peach scent. I also had to get the Eevee one (Eevee is my favourite Pokemon by the way!) and it’s described as a powder scent.

They have quite a few in the line including Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Togepi, Snorlax and the two I got Jigglypuff and Eevee. They all have different scents.

I also picked up the Jigglypuff face powder which seems like a thin powder to help blot. My skin is combination so having something that helps blot the oil without sticking to dry patches is a must! I can’t wait to give this a go and hope it helps. They had two shades from the seller I got this from and the one I got is called cotton vanilla.

One of my favourite skincare items from Asia has to be sheet masks. I’m in love! So I bought the TonyMoly lemon one for brightening! I’m a sucker for any product that helps to brighten my skin. I’m trying to drink more water too to help as it can be quite dull.

I love the trend of gradient lips using lip tints so I ordered this really cute Rilakkuma one!

I have two things by Etude House, a pair of eyelashes and an eyebrow razor. I’ve been interested in getting better lashes and trying out this cute eyebrow razor. I want to try and shape up my eyebrows a bit better. I’m going to wear these lashes with the bottom pair, which I’ve never tried before. But it looks so good in Lolita fashion so I’ll be wearing them at my next meet!

So do any of you use Asian skincare or beauty products? I’m always looking for recommendations!

Forbidden Planet Dublin Haul!

I was up in Dublin recently and of course had to make my stop at Forbidden Planet. They’ve had a lot of work done to the store and it’s looking great! Highly recommend that you check it out if haven’t!

I love going to comic book stores! I don’t get the chance to do it as often as I’d like since I live primarily in the South and we really don’t have any (Cork does but Tipperary and Limerick are where I am and we don’t). I also much prefer buying comics and merchandise when I can in comic book stores over book stores when I can afford to. My favourite stores that I’ve been to so far are Forbidden Planet in Dublin (the Belfast store wasn’t quite the same) and of course The Big Bang in Dundrum. I do really need to make another visit there at some point. They are so lovely and if I lived in Dublin I would go so often.

On with the haul!

I do like picking up manga when I’m in Forbidden Planet since they do a 3 for 2 all year round making it just as cheap as when I order online. I collect a lot of manga so I’m always happy to get it at a cheaper price.

The volumes that I picked up were Honey so Sweet volume 7 and 8 along with a new Black Butler volume (24). I was so happy to see Honey so Sweet as it finished just about 2 months ago in English at 8 volumes. It’s such a cute and adorable series. It’s also so nice to buy a series that doesn’t go on and on (looking at you forever Naruto). Funnily enough I posted about this on twitter recently and got given out to for mentioning it finished at that volume, even though it’s been finished in Japan for about 2 years now!

The art was one of the main reasons I picked up this series in the first place. It’s one I really recommend and I can’t wait to finish reading this over the holidays!

I picked up volume 24 of Black Butler too, a series I need to catch up on reading soon. I adore this manga though. The art is so beautiful (can you tell I’m a sucker for art?) and the story line changes up keeping it interesting with different arcs. I do recommend you check this out and the anime is quite good. The Atlantic arc just came out as a movie and I loved it!

I was so excited when I found this next item! Funko released a new wave of Disney Princess pops and finally released a new Aurora! (Still want a Briar Rose one!). I missed out on the original (and still regret not picking it up when I randomly found her in a store in Dublin) and she costs too much second hand so I was delighted when Funko brought out a new one! I’m just hoping I can find the chase version of her in the blue dress as she’s mostly marketed in the pink. They’ve also released a Merida, Snow White and Mulan in this line. I’m really hoping to get Snow White at some point!

November #ncbd haul

Here are the comics that I got from my monthly pull in November!

I’m always so excited for new comics every month. It’s rather addicting. I also finally got new short boxes recently and am storing them better! They do take up a lot of space!

I’d also love to know what you bought recently for #ncbd! If you have any suggestions of what you’d think I’d like let me know!

Now on to the comics!

First up are two issues from the publishing company Boom! Box. I’m such a big fan of these. Giant Days is one of my favourite comics! It’s set in university in England and feels so relatable as I’m currently in university myself. It’s a fun series that I’m currently collecting in trades (the next one is out so I’ll be picking that up soon!). This is a holiday special single issue that I just had to get. I’m super hyped to read it! I do recommend this series so much!

Misfit City is another series that’s a lot of fun. It’s similar to the Goonies (with the town in the series actually mentioning that a movie clearly meant to be that was filmed there). It’s the only reason why tourists visit it with a museum one of the girls works at having an exhibit about it. It’s an adventure series with a great female cast and I’m in love with the art!

Of course it wouldn’t be my monthly pull without the wonderful Batgirl. I’m so in love with her in case you couldn’t tell. (Still annoyed they are letting Josh Whedon do her film. She deserves so much better!) These are some of my favourite releases from the new DC Rebirth comics!

Paper Girls is another fantastic series. It’s set in the 80s and it’s so damn good. It keeps getting better and better in my opinion. It’s a series that I think everyone will like even if you think comics aren’t your thing (same goes with Saga).

Snotgirl is a series I can relate to in many ways but the main one being a fellow sufferer of hayfever (and a pretty bad dust allergy). She’s also a fashion blogger and the art again is so good. I tend to give in to good art quite easily and I try to get Leslie’s covers as they are so good!

And the last two issues for this month are The Beauty and Motor Crush.

The Beauty, imo, deserves way more love. I wish the book community was more into comics on a regular basis rather just when it becomes a popular video to do and never to be seen again till it becomes popular again. This is such an interesting story about an STD that people want to get as it makes them beautiful but like regular STD’s it’s a disease that kills some of them. It does make interesting comments on beauty and what some people are willing to do in order to achieve it.

Motor Crush is yet another fantastic series! Done by the people behind Batgirl of Burnside it’s a fantastic story and features great art. (I’m also in love with Lola the main character’s ex girlfriend with fabulous pink hair).  It’s so good to see more representation in comics and I can’t wait to catch up on my recent issues.

Book Mail!

I just got a 10 per cent discount from the book depository and I was overdue in getting the new volume of Food Wars so here we are!

I picked up a couple of new books that I wanted to read!

Food Wars is one of my favourite manga series and I’m so excited that the anime is back with a new season! I tend to wait for the new volume to go down in price before I buy it and I also had a 10 per cent discount so I had to get it! I’m really hyped to see where this series is going. I so wish the English volumes didn’t take so long to come out!

Honey So Sweet 5 and 6 were the next volumes I added to my order. I’m so in love with this series, the art and the story are so adorable! I really do recommend this if you love shoujo manga as much as I do! There are only 2 more volumes left in the series after this and I’m hoping to get them sometime soon. It’s nice to be able to complete a series!

My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness is a comic that I’ve heard really good things about. I’ve been trying to expand my comic collection with more titles and stuff other than just superheroes recently. I’m really looking forward to reading this!

Book Haul!

So I’ve noticed when catching up with posts there are some books that I got recently that I never blogged about! So here’s a random mash of books that I bought that I really want to share! I’m also hoping to do a mini haul once Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card volume 1 comes out!

On with the books!

The first book that I’m going to mention first is Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas! I’m a huge fan of her and the Throne of Glass books so I’m really excited for this! This is technically a novella of sorts with the POV being Chaols. I really liked his character and I’m hoping to reread Throne of Glass over the holidays during some sort of readathon as I’m behind in the series. I never finished Heir of Fire and I do own Queen of Shadows and Empire of Storms so it’s time to marathon them. Especially with the last book of this series coming out at the start of next year. Isn’t the cover so beautiful though? I even saw the hardback version while I was in Limerick and it was even more stunning but a bit too pricey, especially for a book I already had!

I’ve been wanting to get more into comics so I also recently picked up more volumes from the DC Rebirth range! I got the first volumes of The Flash and Batman. I’m really excited to give this  a read! I’m a huge fan of superhero comics and I’ve been reading some of the Rebirth series through single issues. I’d love more recommendations by the way! I’m hoping to get more from the DC Rebirth series. I have some of the Harley Quinn and Suicide Squad single issues, and I regularly get Batgirl and Batgirl and the birds of prey monthly!

One of my most anticipated reads from DC Rebirth though is the next on my haul here! I bought the first issue digitally to see how I’d like it and I loved it! I actually bought this through the comic book store I get my single issues from! Super Sons is such a fun read and I love how the sons of Batman and Superman interact with each other.

I’m super excited for this next title! John Green recently released a new book and even if I wasn’t interested in the story I couldn’t pass it up for the cover alone. Yes I do judge books by their cover! It’s so beautiful and I’ve heard really good things about the story too. I’m building up a rather large tbr for Christmas.

The next title had some mixed reviews and I can understand that being from a youtuber can do that. I mostly bought it as it sounded like a cute read and the cover was so damn cute. I do have a problem with cute covers clearly! Even if I don’t like this I got some cute photos out of it! I will be posting a review once I read this just due to the mixed reviews I’m interested in seeing how I’ll like it. I think it might end up being a title that I would have loved as a teenager though!

That’s it for right now! I plan on blogging a lot more during the holidays so if there’s anything you’d like to see more of let me know! Or if there’s posts I haven’t done and you’re interested in them leave some suggestions below! Thanks!

Meraki Candles Haul: Part 1

I finally decided to buy some bookish candles! I see these pop up on Instagram quite a lot and love how they look in photos. A lot of these companies are actually American but I came across Meraki Candles on etsy and they ship from Scotland. I had to buy some. I had these shipped to my addresspal (kinda like a PO box) but I think with the wait time I may just ship them to my actual Irish address in the future.

The candles that I bought were Chaol and The Burrow. Chaol being one of my favourite characters from the Throne of Glass books and The Burrow being the home of the Weasly family from Harry Potter.

Chaol is described as smelling of books and hazelnut coffee while The Burrow smells of Banana nut bread. They both smell amazing. I’m not very good at describing scents but they both are exactly what they offer. Chaol reminds me of being in a coffee shop with a good book and The Burrow smells exactly like freshly baked banana bread. I’m so excited to burn them over the holidays. Especially as I have a lot of reading I want to do and these will be perfect to burn in the background. I would so recommend these candles. Keep an eye out on instagram for when I burn them and I will let you know how they compare then!

I also included some bookish photos I took including the candles below!

Are bookish candles something you like? I’d love to know if you’ve tried them before!
