I’ve been seeing quite a few posts recently about keeping positive and beating the blues so feeling somewhat inspired by those posts I decided to make my own.
It’s currently January and I’m 1 week away from being back in college for my last semester. But while I’m looking forward to it I’m not going to lie I’m currently in a frump, mostly due to the weather and lack of sun. It’s not easy to get up and get stuff done when you’re feeling down. Sometimes even doing basic things can be hard but I feel so satisfied when I at least get that done.
I want to make 2018 a much better year than 2017 was. I’m hoping that when the sun fully comes back that I’ll feel better but until then here are some of my ways of cheering up when I feel down!
Watch/Read something you love!
I’m very into curling up with a hot cup of tea and watching something on my laptop. I’m currently watching the new season of Cardcaptor Sakura and it’s so good! It makes me feel so happy when I watch something I love. Here are some of my current recommendations of tv shows! (Along with a couple of shows coming back!)
I’ve also set my Goodreads Reading Challenge for the year! I’m really excited for a whole new year of reading! I find it handy to set a target for the year. It doesn’t have to be a whole lot, even setting a goal of 10 books is great! If you read anything this year that’s fantastic in my opinion. Never let someone else dictate how you read!
Here are some books that are on my 2018 tbr for example!
Meet up with friends!
This is one that I don’t do enough! Most of my friends are in Dublin so I only meet up with them when we do Lolita meet ups! I’m hoping at some point I can see them more often! We do have two meet ups planned, one this month and one next month and I’m so excited! One positive thing about going back to college is seeing more people. I want to work harder this semester, not only in college but hopefully with my social life!
I always feel better when I have the chance to meet up with friends. Try to message them and arrange a lunch date! Even just going somewhere for a cup of coffee and a chat can make a world of difference!
Even though the weather is not great at the moment you do need to get out of the house. I find that if I stay cooped up I end up feeling a lot worse than usual. It’s nice to have a day inside of course but getting out even if it’s by yourself can make the world of difference. I forced myself to do that today and I feel so much better. Even if it’s just a walk up the road by yourself or with the dog, or even a quick trip to the shops for some window shopping!
Time to Spring clean!
I’ve been currently doing this as I’m trying quite hard to de-clutter and just be more organised. It’s not easy but even doing it bit by bit can make a huge difference! It’s the start of a new year so getting this done now will help! Just pick some part of your room or house and focus on that! I picked my room as it’s my space and I want to make it a space that I can relax in but also work in!
There are plenty of small things that also make me feel better and some of these are things that I need to do more in 2018!
- Drink more water (it really helps!)
- Eat better! (less sugar, more actual meals!)
- Try to exercise, even just walking when you can instead of getting a bus for example (I’m hoping to do this more and a friend of mine wants to take up some yoga so I’m planning on joining her!)
- Get into new or old hobbies! (I’m hoping to develop my photography skills this year and maybe even do a bit of drawing again).
I hope that 2018 treats us all better! I really believe in this year and I’m hoping to work hard and do well.
Let me know what you do to stay positive and what you plan on doing this year to help yourself!
I was very inspired by this post by Hannah Vickers! Check her out! She has a very cute blog!
